BYD’s Pakistan push sparks new energy debate

BYD is rapidly expanding its global presence, with Pakistan as its latest market entry, marking the automaker's continued international growth. On August 17, BYD held a brand conference in Pakistan, showcasing three models, with plans to sell both electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. In partnership with Mega Conglomerate Pvt, BYD will begin sales in the fourth quarter, initially setting up showrooms in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. There are plans to establish a factory by 2026 near Port Qasim in Karachi, adding to BYD's growing portfolio of international operations, including factories in Thailand, Uzbekistan, and Indonesia. This move aligns with Pakistan's goal of achieving 30% new energy vehicle sales by 2030.
