Samsonite reports mixed H1 2024 results amid regional fluctuations

Samsonite reported a 4% YoY drop in 1H 2024 sales to $1.77 billion, with net profit at $1.06 billion. Gross margin rose to a record 60.2%, driven by a 4.7% increase in retail sales, now making up 38% of total sales. Tumi’s sales grew 3%, while American Tourister fell 9%. Regionally, sales rose 2% in Asia, 46% in Europe, and 20.3% in Latin America, with North America stable. Second-quarter revenue reached $900 million, though the group missed expectations, citing weaker results in China and North America. China’s sales surged 23% in Q1, but dropped 35% in Q2.
