China’s total online retail sales in the first half of the year reached 7.1 trillion RMB ($1.1 trillion), an increase of 9.8% YoY, according to National Bureau of Statistics data released on July 15. Among them, the online retail sales of physical goods amounted to 5.96 trillion RMB ($930 billion), an 8.8% increase and accounting for 25.3% of total retail sales of consumer goods. Food, clothing, and daily necessities sales grew 17.8%, 7%, and 7.8%, respectively.
