At the 122nd UNWTO Executive Council meeting in Colombia, China had the most villages selected for the 2024 “Best Tourism Villages” list, with 15 villages in total. These include seven new entries such as Azheke Village in Yunnan and Shibadong Village in Hunan. Rural tourism in China has become a key driver of market recovery, with 2.248 billion visitors in the first three quarters of 2024, generating 1.32 trillion RMB ($182 billion) in revenue.
