K-beauty exports hit record $10.2B as global sales soar

South Korean beauty products have achieved a significant milestone in global markets, with exports surpassing $10 billion for the first time in 2024, reaching $10.2 billion, a 20.6% increase from the previous year. This growth comes 12 years after exports first exceeded $1 billion in 2012, despite slowdowns in 2022 and 2023. Skincare products led exports at $7.67 billion, followed by makeup at $1.35 billion. While China remained the largest importer, accounting for 24.5% of exports, its share declined, with the US and Japan seeing substantial growth, particularly in skincare and makeup categories. Korean cosmetics became the top exporter to both the US and Japan in 2024, surpassing France in both markets. The UAE also entered the top 10 importers, highlighting the global expansion of Korean beauty products.
