H&M returns to landmark Shanghai store with 5-year lease

H&M has signed a new lease agreement to return to its first and largest store on Huaihai Road in Shanghai. The store had been in operation for 15 years before closing during the pandemic. According to public information released by Shanghai Yimin Commercial Group, the lease term is from 2025 to 2029, with an annual rent of 25.5 million RMB ($3.47 million). The store is located at 645-649 Huaihai Road, covering 64,583 sqm and spanning six floors. From 2030 to 2034, the annual rent will increase to 27.5 million RMB ($3.71 million). This Huaihai Road location was H&M’s first flagship store when the brand entered the Chinese market in 2007, and it remains one of its largest stores.
