Yao’s appointment, which drew around 36 million views on Weibo, followed the brand’s successful resolution of accusations regarding banned ingredients in its products. The younger daughter of Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei, Yao has built her own career in entertainment, debuting in 2018 and later pursuing music and acting, which helped her gain popularity in China.
