Sales of foreign-branded smartphones in China, including Apple’s iPhone, plummeted by 44.25% YoY in October to 6.22 million units, down from 11.15 million units a year earlier, according to data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology. While overall phone sales in China rose 1.8% to 29.67 million units, Apple, the largest foreign phone maker in the market, has faced challenges, with its recently launched iPhone 16 models lacking an AI feature tailored for Chinese users until next year and no announced AI partner for the market.
