Perfume brand Le Jardin Retrouvé exits China
French niche perfume brand Le Jardin Retrouvé on October 15 announced its impending closure on platforms like Xiaohongshu and Tmall, citing a brand strategy adjustment. Currently, the Tmall flagship store offers only scented products, candles, and perfume samples. Founded in Paris in 1975 by perfumer Yuri Gutsatz and his wife, the label was the first to establish the “third fragrance” standard, advocating for a category distinct from luxury and mass-market perfumes. Le Jardin Retrouvé opened its official flagship store on Tmall in 2021 and received recommendations from top influencers like Li Jiaqi, but it has struggled to penetrate the Chinese market.
