According to customs data, China’s total cosmetics imports in September dropped by 11.3% to 29,474.1 tons, while the import value decreased by 9.7% to 10.03 billion RMB ($1.37 billion), the fifth consecutive month of decline. Notably, China’s cosmetics exports continued to grow, with the total export volume in August rising by 16.9% to 131,528 tons and the export value increasing by 4.6% to 5.059 billion RMB ($692 million). Overall, both the import value and volume of cosmetics in the first three quarters of this year have declined YoY, a trend closely linked to changes in the global economic environment and the competitive landscape of China’s cosmetics market.
