Turkey courts Chery for auto sector boost after BYD deal
Turkey is in advanced talks with Chinese automaker Chery about a potential investment, as the country seeks to strengthen its ties with Chinese car manufacturers following a $1 billion deal with BYD earlier this year. While details of the Chery investment remain unspecified, discussions took place between Turkish officials and Chery’s President Guibing Zhang at an investment event in Istanbul. Turkey, which already hosts major automotive brands like Ford and Renault, offers incentives such as tax breaks and land allocation for electric vehicle production, aiming to expand its automotive industry and transition to electric cars.
