Adidas CEO: 80% of products made in China

Over 80% of Adidas’ products are made in China, and the brand will continue to drive growth in the Chinese market through innovative products and localization strategies, the brand’s CEO Bjoern Gulden said at an event in Shanghai. In the first half of the year, Adidas’ revenue grew 10% YoY to 11.28 billion euros ($11.91 billion), with Greater China seeing a 9.3% increase to 822 million euros ($868 million). Gulden attributed this quarter’s performance to the brand’s localization strategy and collaborations with local designers, noting that the ongoing recovery of the Chinese market, driven by local design and consumption trends, has boosted overall performance. Adidas has approximately 7,500 stores in China and plans to open larger stores, including Future Unbounded stores in non-tier-one cities. Adidas has opened nearly 300 new stores in China this year, with plans to further expand into third- and fourth-tier cities.
