Top influencer slammed for misleading mooncake promo
China’s top Douyin influencer “Crazy Little Brother Yang” recently faced controversy for promoting “Hong Kong Premium Mooncakes” by Meicheng, which were revealed to be produced in Guangdong, not Hong Kong. The market supervision bureau in Hefei initiated an investigation into possible consumer misguidance in the livestream sale, though initial details about regulatory meetings with the company were removed from official statements. Hong Kong celebrity Eric Tsang, who had promoted the mooncakes alongside the influencer, has not yet responded. The controversy continues to garner attention, with Tsang’s past associations with the company coming under scrutiny.
