Mid-Autumn Festival travel costs drop 25% YoY in China

As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, the travel market is expected to experience a small peak. Compared to the recent summer season, the cost-performance ratio for travel during this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival is relatively higher. According to data from FlightAI, a market insight platform under Ctrip.com, the average one-way domestic flight ticket price for the Mid-Autumn Festival is about 770 RMB ($106), which is approximately 25% lower than during last year’s Mid-Autumn Festival and the first three days of the National Day holiday. Ctrip.com data shows that nearly half of the bookings for the Mid-Autumn Festival are for nearby travel, a higher proportion than during the previous long weekend of the Dragon Boat Festival.
