L’Oréal to hike prices in China again, citing market pressures
Starting September 1, L'Oréal will increase prices on products in China, including Helena Rubinstein, with a 50ml jar of Replasty Night Cream rising to 3,950 RMB (about $550). This marks the third price hike this year for L'Oréal, following increases in February and July. Analysts attribute the price adjustments to performance pressures, as L'Oréal’s revenue grew 7.5% to 22.1 billion euros ($23.8 billion) in the first half of the year, but North Asia, including China, saw a 3.1% decline in revenue. L'Oréal's CEO expects global beauty market growth of 4.5% to 5% this year, down from an earlier forecast of 5%, due to weak sales in China.
