China and the U.S. lead global hotel construction boom
Lodging Econometrics' Q2 2024 report shows a record-high global hotel construction pipeline with 15,453 projects and 2,395,726 rooms, up 6% year-over-year. Currently, 6,265 projects are under construction, with 3,972 more set to start in the next year. The U.S. and China lead in project counts, with Dallas, Atlanta, and Chengdu having the largest city pipelines. The first half of 2024 saw 948 new hotels open, with 2,534 expected by year-end and forecasts of 2,756 in 2025 and 2,812 in 2026.
