Running category boosts sportswear brands’ performance in China

The importance of professional sports, especially the running category, is increasingly prominent within sports footwear and apparel companies. Both domestic and international brands have achieved significant performance growth in this area. Li Ning, for instance, saw a 25% YoY increase in its running category in the first half of the year, launched upgraded running shoe products, and introduced exclusive running shoes for female consumers for the first time. Xtep has strengthened the construction of its running ecosystem through running clubs and affiliated running teams, with its professional sports division revenue experiencing 72.2% YoY growth. International brands Asics and On have also performed well in the Chinese market, demonstrating the significant position and growth potential of the running category within the sports goods industry.
