The China-Laos Railway has handled over 38 million passenger trips since its opening on December 3, 2021, operating 56,000 passenger trains as of August 19. The railway has significantly boosted economic prosperity at ports, cross-border tourism, and people-to-people exchanges. To enhance travel convenience, the railway, in collaboration with customs and border inspection departments, has introduced measures like online booking for customs clearance, 24-hour barrier-free customs clearance, and special channels for the Belt and Road initiative and 144-hour visa-free transit.
