Marimekko’s Asia focus leads to new collaborations

Finnish fashion brand Marimekko has reported an 8% increase in sales to €81.3 million ($86.5 million) and an 8% rise in profit to €11.2 million ($12 million) for the first half of 2024. In the second quarter, sales grew by 8% to €43.7 million ($47.3 million), but profit fell by 7% to €6.1 million ($6.5 million). Regionally, sales in Finland increased by 9%, while international sales rose by 6%, driven primarily by wholesale growth in the Asia-Pacific region. In May, Marimekko launched a spring-summer collaboration with Uniqlo in China, followed by a June collaboration with Heytea, featuring new tea drinks and limited-edition packaging. Marimekko plans to open 10-15 new stores and shop-in-shops this year, mainly in the Asian market.
