According to data from the Haikou General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection, by July 14, over 154,000 foreign tourists had entered Hainan without a visa this year, more than 12 times the number from the same period last year. In the first half of the year, Sanya welcomed 319,800 overnight visitors from abroad, about 81% of the pre-pandemic visitor volume from 2019. Russian tourists have become the largest group visiting Hainan, with over 35,000 arriving in Sanya since January, making up 33.6% of foreign visitors, with more than 94% entering visa-free.
