Kering reports revenue decline as Gucci sales slump
For the six months ending June 30, Kering reported an 11% revenue decline to 9 billion euros ( $9.8 billion) and a 42% drop in operating profit to 1.6 billion euros ($1.7 billion). Second-quarter revenue fell 11% to 4.51 billion euros ($4.9 billion), missing expectations. Gucci’s revenue decreased 20% to 2 billion euros ($2.2 billion), Yves Saint Laurent dropped 9% to 700 million euros ($760 million), and Bottega Veneta increased 2% to 448 million euros ($490 million). Other brands saw an 8% decline to 893 million euros ($970 million), while eyewear revenue rose 22% to 531 million euros (about $580 million). Regionally, Asia-Pacific (excluding Japan) revenue fell 25% to 1.43 billion euros ($1.6 billion), Japan rose 27% to 720 million euros ($780 million), Europe declined 8% to 2.52 billion euros ($2.7 billion), and North America fell 11% to 1.08 billion euros ($1.2 billion).
