An Asia Society Center on US-China Relations Production The China Boom Project (http://chinaboom.asiasociety.org/), designed by the Asia Society's Center on US-China Relations, asks 100 experts the question, “Why did China boom?” Beginning in April 2008, researchers began interviewing individuals with key insight into the China Boom, including artist Cai Guo-Qiang, Alibaba CEO David Wei, artist Ai Weiwei, and Atlantic National Correspondent James Fallows. The website guides visitors through the last 30 years of Chinese history in six sections, beginning shortly before the country's "reform and opening-up" in 1978: Inheritance, Emancipation, Reckoning, Rebirth, Overdrive, and Prospects. Organized by four key threads, Capitalism, Globalization, The Party, and Crisis Management, the interactive website is geared not only towards specialists, but anyone with an interest in China, and will become an even better research resource as the China Boom Project builds up a digital archive of full-length interviews.
