To celebrate the 50th anniversary of its 911 model, luxury automaker Porsche took over the Imperial Ancestral Temple just outside the Forbidden City in Beijing with a celebratory show that would have left any Ming or Qing emperor in awe. In the video embedded above, watch the company flash a spectacular seven-minute animation across the main hall of the temple, known in Chinese as the Taimiao (太庙), transforming it into a virtual Porsche factory displaying the model's changes throughout the years. In addition, guests gathered at the former ancestral worship grounds for the Chinese emperors were also treated to a four-course meal, exclusive access to the unveiling of Porsche's new 50th anniversary edition 911 model, and a performance by Chinese singer Sun Nan. The evening was hosted by Porsche China CEO Deesch Papke. This isn't the first time a major international luxury brand has held an event at an ancient imperial site: in 2009, Cartier hosted an exhibition in the Forbidden City. As part of the 50th anniversary campaign, Porsche has also released a Chinese-language video showcasing the seven evolutions of the 911 model throughout the years, which is embedded below.
