Yang Mi Becomes the Face of Michael Kors’ Special Collection for Duty-Free Giant DFS#

Popular Chinese actress and Estée Lauder brand ambassador Yang Mi has become the face of a special collection campaign for Michael Kors. The collection is being launched in collaboration with Hong Kong-based duty free giant DFS, and will be released exclusively through DFS stores and T Galleries on Sept 1, according to WWD. The news broke in China yesterday and Yang’s campaign shot has been trending on Weibo. Chinese netizens have appeared to like the idea of a duty free store-exclusive bag since having the bag will convey to others that its owner had traveled abroad. The bag thus becomes a way to show off not only the wearer’s purchasing power, but also the financial ability to afford international travel.

Comment from Weibo: “I love the bag and I love Yang Mi. Can’t decide which one I like more.”

Supreme and Dr. Martens New Collaboration “Shunned” on Weibo#

News about luxury streetwear brand Supreme’s collaborative collection with the iconic British shoe maker Dr. Martens is trending on Weibo. The Supreme x Dr. Martens limited edition consists of three different colors of the regular Dr. Martens 3-eye shoe with an addition of the “Sacred Heart” embroidered next to the shoelace holes. The collection is due to be released on Aug 31. Chinese netizens did not seem to be impressed by the collaboration and some have commented on the post, saying that they don’t think the images of the two brands—one gothic British, the other casual American—are in harmony.

Comment from Weibo: “I don’t know about you, but I don’t like the 3-eye style Docs. I like the classic style boots better.”
