Ferrari, Sunseeker Confirm Participation In Hainan Rendez-Vous

    Event, Taking Place April 2-4, To Showcase Some Of World's Top Luxury Brands In Tropical Hainan Province#

    Earlier this year, Jing Daily mentioned the upcoming Hainan Rendez-Vous event, set to draw some of the world's top luxury brands to Hainan province from April 2-4 and showcase the island's nascent five-star makeover. As we've written before, the Chinese government's plan to transform Hainan into an international travel destination, announced late last year, have been hailed by high-end property developers and hoteliers, luxury retailers and tour operators but have drawn the criticism of Vietnamese protestors and long-time Hainan residents alike.

    Nonetheless, plans move ahead to build more golf courses, luxury hotels, and shopping malls.

    Drawing a line under Hainan's luxury makeover, Hainan Rendez-Vous (previously on Jing Daily), organized by China Rendez-Vous and Visun International Yacht Club, will showcase everything from high-end residences to private jets to luxury goods. According to the event website, organizers plan to fly in 150 invited clients to the event by private jet, and project that up to 4,000 Chinese High Net Worth Individuals from all over Asia will take part.

    This week, Luxury Insider points out that a number of top brands, including Ferrari, Sunseeker and Christofle have confirmed their participation in the three-day event. From the article:

    One of the many big players joining the portfolio of exhibitors is Sunseeker China, the company that deals with Sunseeker's sales and services wihtin China. Established in 2003, the brand has built up a mature service system and will be looking to maintain its standing within the regional yachting industry.

    Also confirmed is IJM Land, the real-estate giant, who will showcase their latest integrated resort development – THE LIGHT Waterfront in Penang.

    Meanwhile, Lacoste will be adding their particular caché to proceedings, taking the opportunity to present their complete range, from menswear to perfume, and from leather goods to glasses.

    Likewise highlighting its collections will be the silversmith Christofle, historically the official supplier to the Emperor of France.


    Finally, the most iconic of car makers, Ferrari, will be exhibiting its products. China represents the 2nd largest market in Asia Pacific for the Italian brand and they are sure to be one of the highlights of the event.

    Although exhibitors like Ferrari will likely be a popular draw, we would expect yachtmakers to put the most effort into the event. As we wrote earlier this month, Hainan is vying to become not only China's luxury tourist destination but also the country's yachting capital. Recently, as part of the Boao International Tourism Forum held on the island, the Yacht Economy Forum was held in Haikou -- the capital of Hainan.

    This forum, which included 30 yachts on display, also included a drawing for one luxury couple to win a yacht "dream wedding," indicating that some enterprising entrepreneurs in Hainan think the yacht + wedding/honeymoon formula could be a cash cow in the next few years.
