Opening Ceremony Includes Fireworks Display And Performance After years of planning and months of intense preparation, the Shanghai World Expo kicked off today with a stunning fireworks display and musical performance. The expo officially opens its doors to the public tomorrow, and over the next six months organizers estimate somewhere between 70-100 million visitors, most of them Chinese, will tour the expo's venues.
