Lamborghini Looking To Catch Up With Rivals Porsche And Ferrari#

The red-hot China auto market has been good to everyone from low-end domestic upstarts to ultra-high-end super car makers, and in the last year alone we've watched the world's top brands battle it out for a stronger foothold there. From Rolls-Royce to Ferrari to Bugatti to Bentley, it seems that everyone is planning a major expansion effort or a range of China-only, localized models to break away from the pack.

Looking to catch up with its super car rivals, Lamborghini recently announced that it plans to introduce 8 new models to the China market this year, one of which -- the Murciélago LP 670-4SuperVeloce China (debuted at the Beijing Auto Show) -- is a China-only special edition. According to China Car Times, along with the SuperVeloce China, Lamborghini will roll out its Gallardo LP 550-2, Gallardo LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni, Gallardo LP 570-4Superleggera, GallardoLP560-4Coupe, GallardoLP560-4 Spyder, Murciélago LP650-4 Roadster, and regular edition Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce.

As China Car Times goes on to point out, in the first quarter of this year Lamborghini sold 38 cars in China, a staggering 90% increase over 2009 sales, while its competitor Ferrari sold 68 vehicles in the same time frame, doubling its sales during this period. The company is reportedly hoping to sell 100 units this year.
