Event At UCCA Features Panels, Installations, Live Music And More

The Creators Project: Beijing 2011

The Creators Project: Beijing 2011

Following up last year’s inaugural takeover of Beijing’s 798 Arts District, which featured Chinese and international live acts and creatives like Li Hui, Vega Wang, New Pants and Sulumi (Jing Daily Q&A), the second installment of The Creators Project will take place at the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (UCCA) from September 15-18. This year’s event looks to be even more sprawling, with live performances by Mount Kimbie, Supermarket, PK14, Glasser, Optimo and Zhang Shouwang of Carsick Cars. Film-wise, organizers are slated to show several shorts by Ray Lei, a new film by Peng Lei, “Runscape” by Map Office, “Scenes from the Suburbs” by Spike Jonze and Arcade Fire, and “Logorama” by H5.

In addition to the live music and film events taking place over the course of the weekend, The Creators Project: Beijing 2011 will include a variety of interactive installations, including new work from Aaajiao, Francis Lam (DbDbking) and Joao Vasca Paiva, Feng Mengbo’s “Bruce Lee VJ Project,” “Life on Mars Revisited” by David Bowie, Mick Rock and Barney Clay, and “Room With A View” by UVA. All told, looks like an event not to miss for anyone in Beijing this weekend, even if the timing does coincide with the highly anticipated Black Rabbit music festival (September 17, Chaoyang Sports Park).
