    Following previous mainland China openings in Beijing and Shanghai, this week

    unveiled its much-anticipated Guangzhou hotel. Located adjacent to Taikoo Hui, the commercial epicenter of Guangzhou (which boasts 358,000 square meters of luxury shopping and office space), the property was designed by internationally acclaimed interior designer Tony Chi. The Mandarin Oriental Guangzhou offers guests the largest rooms in the city, and in all has 233 guest rooms, 30 suites, and 24 service apartments that reflect both traditional and modern elements of Chinese culture.

    To please the palate, the Mandarin Oriental Guangzhou includes dining by way of Jiang by Chef Fei, serving the crème de la crème of Cantonese dining, classic grill Ebony, dim sum and afternoon tea spot the Taikoo Lounge, the Mandarin Cake Shop, and nightspot Loft. Catering to the demand for health and wellness services in China, the hotel's spa features nine private treatment rooms, including two couple’s suites and a VIP spa suite. For business travelers, the hotel offers meeting and function facilities equipped with state-of-the-art technology and a 750 square meter ballroom.

    However, Mandarin Oriental’s westward expansion is not stopping in Guangzhou, as the hotelier is slated to open a 320-room Chengdu location in 2015. For Edouard Ettedgui, Group Chief Executive of Mandarin Oriental, the new Guangzhou property “presents an ideal opportunity to further grow our brand in the mainland, and we are looking forward to creating the best luxury hotel in this dynamic city, the capital of this important economic and culturally rich province.”

    In celebration of the grand opening, the Mandarin Oriental Guangzhou is offering guests two special packages, both priced from 2,100 yuan (US$338) and available from January 24-April 13, 2013.

    The "Second Night On Us" package includes:
    • Two-nights luxurious accommodation in a spacious guestroom or suite (the second night is complimentary)
    • Complimentary in-room wired and wireless internet access
    • One way transfer to the East Railway Station or a one-way airport transfer for suite guests

    The Discover Mandarin Oriental package includes:
    • One night’s accommodation in a luxurious guestroom or suite
    • Complimentary in-room wired and wireless internet access
    • A credit of 888 yuan for room guests and 1,888 yuan for suite guests that can be redeemed at the hotel’s spa or restaurants
