Lane Crawford Guests Show Off Young Designers#

Hong Kong department store Lane Crawford made a major mark at last weekend's Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala by inviting mainland Chinese, Hong Kong, Canadian, and American stars to attend and walk the red carpet wearing pieces by both established and up-and-coming designers.

Rising young Asian-American designers were featured prominently in the store's celebrity lineup. This publicity may help them gain notoriety in the Chinese market, where major established fashion houses rule supreme. Taiwanese-American designer Jason Wu outfitted three of the company's invitees, including Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi, Chinese model Ming Xi, and Canadian Mad Men star Jessica Paré, while American actress Maggie Q wore a gown by Prabal Gurung. Also invited were Chinese model Liu Wen, Vogue

China Editor-in-Chief Angelica Cheung, and Hong Kong actress Carina Lau.
