Assistant Chief Concierge Of InterContinental Hotel, Huizhou Gives Insider Tour Of Historic Guangdong City#

Although the name Huizhou might not ring a lot of bells outside of China's southern Guangdong province, its location in the country's manufacturing hub -- the Pearl River Delta -- has made it a major beneficiary of China's three-decade-old economic reforms. Today, the city of roughly four million is the site of petrochemical and IT factories, and its coastal access makes it ideal for import-export trade. As a destination for a great deal of foreign direct investment, and a resulting influx of visiting businesspeople, Huizhou now has several five-star resorts and hotels by Sheraton, Kande International, and InterContinental.

In addition to the modern, fast-paced business side of Huizhou, the city has managed to preserve much of its natural beauty and traditional Hakka culture. In a video by Ryan Wang, the Assistant Chief Concierge of the InterContinental Huizhou, we can see some of this city's interesting mix of new and old. As more five-star resorts are constructed in China's interior, it will be interesting to see if more hotels attempt to merge past and present.
