Sina reports this week that the French media group Fashion TV (FTV) has teamed up with the Shanghai Kailing Group to build its first "French-Shanghai-style club", Fashion House. This will mark FTV's official entrance into the mainland China market, after building a presence in Hong Kong over the past several years.

Founded in 1997 and claiming an audience of over 350 million households worldwide, FTV is the only 24-hour television network solely devoted to the fashion and modeling industries. In its new mainland China venture with the Kailing Group, FTV plans to use its Fashion House club to develop China's cultural and entertainment industries, organize monthly fashion shows, and arrange activities for visiting international guests.

The broadcaster also plans to use the club as a springboard for its broader five-year plan to build a fashion and cultural network in provincial capitals throughout China as well as 120 prefecture-level cities. Although FTV released very few details about its upcoming ventures this week, we'll keep an eye on the development of its new club and wider China expansion plan as we receive more information.
