Event Watch: Shanghai International Beer Festival (Oct. 19-21)

Biggest Beer Festival To Hit Shanghai

Where only a trickle of quality beer once made its way to Shanghai, now the city’s beer lovers are enjoying a flood of international and local craft brews, along with an increasing number of world-class events and festivals. Coming off this spring’s first-ever Shanghai Beer Week and Sinan Mansions Craft Beer Festival, this coming weekend the city will hold its largest beer gathering to date, the Shanghai International Beer Festival.

Beer lovers rejoice

Over the course of the three-day event, the South Bund is set to be transformed into a beer enthusiast’s paradise, as more than 40 booths offering over 60 international beers take over Wharf 1846, as attendees can enjoy food from local eateries, live music and prizes and giveaways worth over 200,000 yuan (US$31,929).

Organized by the Huangpu River Group, Dxcel, Wharf 1846 and TICT, the event will feature something for everybody, from larger international breweries like Duvel, Rogue and Saranac to rising stars in China’s burgeoning craft brewery scene, such as Shanghai’s Boxing Cat Brewery and The Brew, Beijing’s Great Leap Brewing, and the Suzhou outpost of Taiwan’s Le Ble D’or. Definitely an event not to miss if you care about quality food and drink than you do about your waistline.
