Taking place during Asia Week New York, a nine-day celebration of Asian art that encompasses exhibitions, auctions, and a number of special events, on March 14 the Chinese Artist Alliance presents a free “Master Talk” event featuring speakers Tehching Hsieh, Yang Chihung, and Dr. Agnes Hsu-Tang.

The first master talk, an art salon on “Chineseness,” (1:15 PM – 3:00 PM) features a screening and conversation between Yang Chihung and Agnes Hsu-Tang. Yang, a renowned New York-based painter whose work has been documented in the Discovery Channel show “Chineseness,” will discuss how his Chinese background and unique philosophy of life have influenced his work over the decades. Dr. Hsu-Tang, an archaeologist and adviser to UNESCO, is the host of History Channel Asia’s “Mysteries of China” series.

The second master talk, “The Lifeworks of Tehching Hsieh” (3:15 PM – 5:30 PM), celebrates the career of Taiwanese-born performance artist Hsieh, whose “One Year” performances made a splash in the late 1970s New York art scene. Since then, Hsieh’s work, known for long durations and blurring of the lines between life and art, has been exhibited around the world.

The Master Talks are free to the public. Register here.
