Exhibition To Run From September To December#

Chinese art lovers may not be buying much Western modern art at auction, but they're certainly getting more chances to see it at home. This fall, the works of twentieth-century French Cubist artist Georges Braque will grace the galleries of the Beijing Imperial City Art Museum, comprising over 200 works from the artist’s repertoire and marking Braque’s first show in China.

Co-sponsored by the Center for International Cultural Exchanges, an affiliate of the Ministry of Culture, and the French company DSTAR, the exhibition will predominantly include sculptures and watercolors. The works will be on show from September 19 to November 17 at the Beijing Imperial City Art Museum near Tian’anmen Square, traveling then to the Nanjing University of the Arts, where the exhibition will be on view from November 23 to December 20.

With Francophilic sentiments occasionally abounding in China, we'd anticipate that Georges Braque will lure in a considerable, artistically inclined crowd eager to catch a glimpse of more French culture.
