Competition Taking Place On Hotel’s Facebook & Sina Weibo Accounts#

The official hotel of the upcoming Hong Kong International Art Fair (ART HK 12), the Mandarin Oriental this week turned to social media to launch its "Artistic Foods Around the World" photo competition. Calling on foodies, modern nomads and photo-buffs to share their favorite photos of foods they've enjoyed on their travels, the contest is being held now on the Mandarin's Sina Weibo and Facebook accounts. The luxury hotelier is putting a range of prizes up for grabs, including an overnight stay and a dining experience at its Michelin-starred Mandarin Grill + Bar featuring its ART HK 12 "Art Menu."

Grand prize for Facebook and Sina Weibo users is a one-night stay at one of the hotel's Harbour Rooms and a welcome bottle of Veuve Clicquot, breakfast for two in The Clipper Lounge or Café Causette and an exclusive Veuve Clicquot edition of the LUXE City Guide Hong Kong. Second prize for both platforms is dinner for two at Mandarin Grill + Bar, featuring the special menu created by Executive Chef Uwe Opocensky. Third prize for Facebook users is a manicure at the Mandarin Salon, while third prize for Weibo users is afternoon tea for two at the Clipper Lounge.

From April 23-May 20, budding photographers interested in taking part in the competition can send their submissions via email to mohkg-socialmedia@mohg.com, making sure to include a caption and information about where the photo was taken. All photos chosen by the Mandarin will be uploaded to the hotel's Facebook photo album and Sina Weibo account (@香港文华东方酒店). Winners will be shortlisted based on the number of "likes" their photo receives on Facebook, and the number of forwards on Weibo. Final winners will be chosen by artist Tang Kwok Hin, whose own work will be on show at the Clipper Lounge from May 1-26.

As Jing Daily noted last month, this competition is just one of many activities planned by the hotel in May to commemorate this year's ART HK fair. Those who don't win grand prize of the photo competition can purchase the Mandarin’s special ART HK package, includes a one-night stay, breakfast at the hotel’s Clipper Lounge or Café Causette, two tickets to the art fair and invitation to the Vernissage on May 16, access to the ART HK lounge and all fair-related events, a bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne and an exclusive ART HK 12 LUXE City Guide. Naturally, the package doesn’t come cheap: rooms start at a princely HK$4,899 (US$631) subject to 10 percent service charge, per night.
