Brand To Open Eighth International Store In Hong Kong In January#

American Vintage specializes in high-quality, high-end "basics"

It may not have a standalone location in its namesake America, but the French fashion brand American Vintage will soon open its eighth international location and first in Asia in Hong Kong. Founded in 2005 by Mickaël Azoulay, American Vintage specializes in high-end "basics" -- sweaters, t-shirts and accessories -- and apparently its multicolored cotton essentials have found a receptive audience, as the brand is now available at around 1,200 points of sale worldwide (one-third of which are in France).

Annual turnover rose 10 percent last year to 42 million euros (US$57 million), and the company is putting its profits to good use, planning new stores not only in Hong Kong but also Amsterdam, Tel Aviv, Madrid and Antwerp in 2012.

While the company has yet to release additional details, American Vintage is expected to open its first Asia location in January 2012 at Hong Kong's International Finance Center (ifc). However, if history is any guide, we can expect to see American Vintage using this Hong Kong store as its launchpad into the mainland China market. One to watch.
