This Year’s Event To Feature Split Between Western And Asian Participants#

Back for its fifth year, ART HK 12 – the Hong Kong International Art Fair -- will take place from May 17-20 with the Vernissage on May 16 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). Asia’s leading international art fair, this year ART HK 12 will present 266 galleries from 38 countries, including 80 new participating galleries. The fair is open to the public and all works on display are available for sale.

This year, ART HK’s Galleries Section will welcome 182 galleries from 30 different countries hosting some of the most prestigious galleries from across Asia, Europe and the USA.

ART HK 12 will also see the return of

    ASIA ONE#

, a section that debuted at the fair in 2011. For ASIA ONE, 49 galleries from across Asia will exhibit a solo presentation by an artist of Asian origin, and in keeping with the Fair’s encouragement of cross-cultural exchange, ASIA ONE will be transitioned into the heart of the Fair. Divided between level one and level three, ASIA ONE will be set alongside other prestigious galleries from Asia and the West during this year's event.

    Another section,

    ART FUTURES#

looks to strengthen this year with increased competition for places and high caliber works from some of the best up and coming artists from around the globe. The section will present 35 young galleries, showcasing work by emerging artists, and once again the ART FUTURES prize will be awarded to one artist featured in this section, selected by a panel of expert judges. The announcement will take place on Thursday, May 17.

Also on May 17, ART HK will debut its

    Private Museum Panel#

, in partnership with Vertu. The Private Museum Panel marks an expansion of the ART HK Private Museum Forum, which debuted at last year's Fair. The Private Museum Forum, returning again this year, is an exclusive round table discussion where private museum owners and directors from across the globe have the opportunity to share goals and concerns.

Since its establishment in 2008, ART HK has become a key fixture on the international art calendar, attracting a mix of international galleries, collectors, curators and museum directors. Last year the Fair attracted 260 galleries from 38 countries, exhibiting works by over 1,000 artists and welcoming a record 63,511 visitors, an increase of 38 percent from 2010.

Tickets to ART HK 12 are priced at HK$250 (US$32) at the door, with a buy-one-get-one-free early bird offer before May 11. Concession tickets for full-time students are priced at HK$125 (US$16). The Vernissage will be held on 16 May from 5:00pm – 9:00pm; tickets are priced at HK$500 (US$64) (through invitation and online pre-sale only). Tickets are available to purchase through HK Ticketing or online at www.hkticketing.com.
